In this edition of our Student Spotlight series, we're excited to share the inspiring story of Hayden Ginnetti, a determined and resilient 1L student. Hayden's journey to New England Law | Boston is marked by passion, perseverance, and a commitment to overcoming obstacles.

During his senior year at UMass Amherst, Hayden suffered a devastating spinal injury while diving at a Nantucket beach. This injury left him paralyzed from the chest down and largely diminished his hand function. After a week in the ICU, two surgeries, and two and a half months in rehab, he finally returned home. He immediately set his sights on returning to school and finishing up at UMass with his friends. Even while dedicating the next three months to occupational and physical therapy, he was able to graduate on time with an undergraduate degree in Political Science. Accomplishing so much in so little time, he set his sights on law school.

Hayden's interest in the legal field traces back to high school, where a fascination with history and social studies set the stage for a future in law. Selecting New England Law was a well-thought-out decision for Hayden. “I knew Boston was where I  wanted to be and where I wanted to study law. And it is just a great area location-wise, it’s easy for me to get in and out. And that's important to me, places around here aren't particularly easy to navigate and to get around. So the convenience of everything is really important to me.”

Transitioning from undergraduate studies to law school posed unique challenges for Hayden, who took a year to prepare for the LSAT and focus on rehabilitation. The increased workload and the need for consistent effort were significant adjustments. Hayden emphasizes the importance of staying on track and not falling behind, recognizing that the workload is demanding but manageable with dedication. “I have a roommate who goes to Suffolk Law, so we're kind of on the same schedule, which has helped a lot. I think the biggest thing is just really structuring your time and using it wisely.”

Hayden's ultimate goal is to specialize in personal injury law, leveraging personal experiences to offer a unique perspective to future clients. He aims to help individuals facing life-altering injuries navigate the legal system. “Personal injury is of interest to me just from what I went through. I think I would offer a unique perspective. I've been there, so I know what it's like, I think that would help people going through life-changing injuries.”

Hayden's journey to law school is a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of pursuing your passion despite challenges. As Hayden progresses through his legal education at New England Law, we look forward to witnessing his continued success.
